WHY WE CREATE MONCHASHA?
A NEW SCOPE: We have noticed an immense scope of rural tourism here. Rural India has much to offer to the world and this arena is majorly unexplored. Rich in traditions of arts, crafts, heritage and culture, rural india can emerge as the most important tourist spots globally. We are sure that those in the developed world, have a craze for knowledge about traditional ways of life, sustainable living, age old arts & crafts etc. If the concept of rural tourism marketed well, it can be a major source of revenue for the country.
We made “Monchasha” in the middle of no-where. At the start there was no example so we have to start afresh & experiment the whole. Today Monchasha is an example. As per the model and according to the demand by the guests, we have recently started fields like “sahajiya” – the cultural centre & “nabya nakshi” – the handicraft hub. Also we have launched a live pottery demonstration by local potters. Involvement of locals increased day by day and now the project is self-sustained.

Monchasha Rural Tourism Project is owned and managed by Debjani & Nilanjan – a wonderful couple, totally committed in tourism and to whom tourism is the primary source of identity and also a primary channel for ambition. They work, travel, spend free time, train, create, do nothing or something, experiment together, and share the first-hand knowledge to those who want to start a new venture.
